Town Board Minutes for May 30, 2012

Call to Order. Chairperson L Updike called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall, 5556 Twin Lane Road. Supervisors V Pogue and D Yelk, Clerk J Ramsfield, Treasurer C Yelk, and Patrolman W Dorshorst were present. D Riesop, J Riesop, B Bruha, E Newhouse, and J Powelka also attended the meeting.

Statement of Public Notice. The chair directed that the minutes show notice of the meeting was posted on the three town bulletin boards on May 25, 2012.

Pledge of Allegiance:  D Yelk led the pledge.

Approve Minutes of Prior Meetings: Moved by V Pogue second by D Yelk to approve the minutes of the May 14th, 2012 Town Board Meeting as presented.

Presentation from the Public: None

E Newhouse: Eagle Scout project in Generations Park: E Newhouse presented the board with photos of the steps he completed in Generations Park (formally the old dump) and asked if the mulch that the town had could be used to cover the path and stairs to keep the weeds down.  The board members remarked that the photos were impressive.  It was the consensus of the board to grant the use of the mulch for the stairs and pathway.

Consider/take action re: Award Sealcoat Bid: At this time, the Highway Department would like the board to consider accepting Struck & Irwin’s proposed bid for Connors, Yelk, Strohmenger and Weisensel Roads. Slurry Seal and recommended spray patching would total $46,501.15.

Moved by D Yelk second by V Pogue to award the 2012 sealcoat bid to Struck & Irwin’s proposed bid for Connors, Yelk, Strohmenger and Weisensel Roads.

Consider/take action re: Approve Petition 10436 by David Riesop to rezone 1.0 acres of a 65 acre parcel from A-1(Ex) Agricultural to R-1 Residential to provide a residence for two sons of the owner who work on the family farm on Ridge Road in Section 36, Town of Sun Prairie: Moved by D Yelk second by V Pogue to approve Petition 10436 by David Riesop to rezone 1.0 acres of a 65 acre parcel from A-1(Ex) Agricultural to R-1A Residential to provide a residence for two sons of the owner who work on the family farm on Ridge Road in Section 36, Town of Sun Prairie

Consider/ take action re: Approve Petition 10440 by Jerome Klein representing the Francis R & Delphine M Klein Trust, requesting approval to rezone a 1.84 acre parcel which includes an existing home from A-1(Ex) Agricultural to R-1A Residential and rezone an adjacent 2.56 acre parcel from A-1(Ex) Agricultural to RH-1 Rural Homes to make the parcels available for sale to settle the Klein estate at 5446 CTH N, in Section 21, Town of Sun Prairie: action deferred, no representative present to address the driveway easement for access to the parcels.

Committee Updates:

  • Fire Advisory – next meeting in July
  • EMS – nothing new
  • Colonial Club – meeting cancelled and has not been rescheduled
  • Plan Commission – the commission invited the board members to the June 18th meeting for a joint meeting to discuss the boundaries of: Village of Cottage Grove, Town of Cottage Grove, and City of Madison.
  • SP/CG Boundary Area Agreement – it appears that the Village of Cottage Grove is most interested in the areas along TT between County Rd N and Seminary Springs.

Audit/Pay Bill:  Moved by V Pogue second by D Yelk to approve and pay town expenses with the hand written on the bottom.
