Call to Order. The regular meeting of the Town of Sun Prairie Plan
Commission was called to order at 7:10 p.m. The following were
present: Chairman Roger Fetterly, Doug Yelk, Dot Havens and John
Quimby. Excused: Alan Meyer, Absent: Kennan Crothers and Judy Stang.
Also present was Claudia Quick, Town Clerk and Lori Bastean, Senior.
Program Analyst/Manager, Dane County Community Development Block Grant
Program.
Public Notice. Notice of the meeting was mailed to Plan Commission
members and posted on the three Town bulletin boards on October 14th,
2008.
Approval of the Minutes. Minutes of the June 16th meeting were mailed
to Plan Commission members prior to the meeting. Hearing no objections
the minutes were approved as written.
Public Comment. There were no members of the public wishing to speak.
Lori Bastean provided the Plan Commission with two fact sheets related
to community development. The first fact sheet covered the Community
Development Block Grant Program and the second fact sheet covered the
Home Investment Partnership (HOME) Program. (See attachments 1 and 2.)
Lori explained how the Town could participate in both Programs and
responded to questions.
Lori conducted an interview with the Plan Commission using a prepared
questionnaire as a guide (See attachment 3) to solicit input for the
Dane County 2010-2015 Consolidated Plan for Community Housing and
Development. The Plan Commission emphasized the following issues as
priorities for the consolidated plan:
a.
Property tax assistance for low income senior citizens
experiencing financial hardship.
b.
Financial assistance for special accommodations and
accessibility for disabled and handicapped residents.
c.
Make home maintenance assistance available to needy residents.
Reviewed Dane County's approval of two change of use permits for
Poblocki Paving Corp. at 4736 CTH U. Approval was previously granted
by Dane County zoning.
Reviewed a proposal by David Baehr and Joe Barrett of Prudential
Community Realty representing property owner Thomas Viken offering to
sell approximately 68 acres of undeveloped land west of CTH N in
section 33 for a town park. Plan Commission declined to take further
action.
Tabled updates to the Town's Land Division Ordinance until next
meeting.
Set Next Regular Meeting Date. The next regular meeting date of the
Town of Sun Prairie Plan Commission is scheduled for November 17, 2008
at 7:00 p.m.
Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
