Town Board Minutes for

The Town Board of the Town of Sun Prairie met on Monday, July 9, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 5556 Twin Lane Road, Marshall, WI.

Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by chairperson Lyle Updike. Supervisors Vernon Pogue and Doug Yelk, and clerk Claudia Quick were present. John Steele was present.

Statement of Public Notice The chair directed that the minutes show notice of the meeting was published in the July 5, 2007 issue of The Star; notice was also faxed to the Capital Times. Copies were also posted on the three town bulletin boards on July 6, 2007.

Pledge of Allegiance Vernon Pogue led the pledge.

Approve Minutes of Prior Meeting Minutes were not available.

Presentation from the Public No one spoke during presentation from the public.

Report on Town Roads The clerk reported for Dennis Farrell. Preparations are being done for replacement of culvert on Connors Road. The Southern WI railroad is not sure that they will be able to install new rails before fall. May be a problem when it comes to the reconstruction of Twin Lane Rd.

Consider and Take Action re: Request for a Class 4 Salvage Permit, J. Steele, 2421 State Hwy 19 John Steele appeared before the Board to discuss his intention to obtain a Class 4 Salvage Permit. Mr. Steele explained that he picks up unwanted vehicles and takes them to his place of business on state highway 19. There he removes the fluids, catalytic converters etc. When the vehicles have been thoroughly prepared for recycling, he transports them to Samuels in Madison. Following questions and answers and general discussion the chair indicated he was comfortable offering a letter of support noting that the vehicles would be limited to 10 and that all work was done inside a building and each permit renewal would be an opportunity for review. However consensus of the Board was to delay action at this time. The clerk will check with the county concerning the appropriate zoning and procedures for the salvage permit. Vern Pogue with talk with the person at the DOT. The item will be on the next agenda.

Consider and Adopt Amendment to the Treasurer’s Ordinance The proposed amendment to the Town’s Treasurer Ordinance was available for public review since June 11, 2007. Vern Pogue made a motion to adopt the amendment, second by Lyle Updike.

Audit and Pay Bills The Board reviewed the list of invoices for July. Moved by Vernon Pogue, second by Doug Yelk to pay the July bills with the addition of the handwritten items.

Set Next Meeting Date/Adjournment. The next meeting date was set for July 23, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Moved by Doug Yelk, second by Vernon Pogue to adjourn the meeting.
