Town Board Meeting

September 29, 2003

The Town Board of the Town of Sun Prairie met on Monday, September 29, 2003 at 7:30 P.M. at the Town Hall, 5556 Twin Lane Road, Marshall, Wisconsin.

Call to Order Chairman Lyle Updike called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Supervisors Vernon Pogue and Doug Yelk, clerk Claudia Quick and deputy clerk Joan Rademacher were present. Also present were Plan Commission members Roger Fetterly, Alan Meyer, Karen Kaltenberg and Carl Williamson. Four additional people attended the meeting.

Statement of Public Notice The chair directed that the minutes show that notice of the Town Board meeting was published in the September 25, 2003 issue of The Star. Copies were posted on the three town bulletin boards on September 19, 2003.

Approve Minutes of Previous Meeting There were no minutes to approve at this meeting.

Consider Ordinance to adopt the Town of Sun Prairie Comprehensive Plan, Dane County, Wisconsin with Contingencies The Town Board received from the Plan Commission Resolution 9-29-2003, Adopting and Recommending the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Sun Prairie in Dane County, Wisconsin. After discussion it was moved by Doug Yelk, second by Vernon Pogue to unanimously approve Ordinance 2003-3 an Ordinance to Adopt the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Sun Prairie, Dane County, Wisconsin. This ordinance states:

  1. The Town Board has adopted written procedures designed to foster public participation in every stage of the preparation of a comprehensive plan as required.
  2. The Plan Commission of the Town of Sun Prairie by a majority vote of the entire commission recorded in its official minutes, has adopted a resolution recommending the adoption of the document titled "Town of Sun Prairie Comprehensive Plan 2003-2023"
  3. The Town Board of the Town of Sun Prairie does by enactment of this ordinance formally adopt the document entitled, "Town of Sun Prairie Comprehensive Plan 2003-2023".
  4. Technical changes resulting from the review of the Town legal counsel may be incorporated into the plan subsequent to adoption.
  5. This ordinance shall take effect upon passage by a majority vote of the members-elect of the Town Board and publication/posting as required by law.

Several people thanked the plan commission and office staff for their work on the plan.

 

Discussion and Action re: Proposed Zoning and Land Divisions The Plan Commission is meeting on October 20, 2003 to discuss implementation of the plan.

Set Next Meeting Date/Adjournment The next Town Board meeting date was set for Monday, October 13, 2003 at 7:30 P.M. Moved by Doug Yelk, second by Vernon Pogue to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The chairman declared the meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
